Leadership Greater McHenry County selects participants for high school program

Leadership Greater McHenry County has selected 14 students for an inaugural youth program aimed at engaging young people in the community.

The program, developed for McHenry County sophomores and juniors in high school, is an outgrowth of an already existing adult leadership program.

Participants will take part in a nine-month pilot program that connects high school students to McHenry County to develop their leadership skills. The goal is to engage the participants in the community before they head off to college in hopes that they will return after graduation to work and live in the community.

A student representative was chosen from each public high school in McHenry County. Participants will be Nathan Ancheta of Cary-Grove High School, Madison Buchanan of Johnsburg High School, Samuel Barton of McHenry West High School, Connor Castro of Crystal Lake South High School, Eric Dowd of McHenry East High School, Grace Hammond of Crystal Lake Central High School, Julia Harris of Marengo High School, Blake Kellinger of Huntley High School, Madison Mindham of Alden-Hebron High School, Fatima Padilla of Woodstock North High School, Cesar Ortiz of Woodstock High School, Hannah Saucedo of Harvard High School, Sera Trigo of Prairie Ridge High School and Andrew Myland of Richmond-Burton Community High School.

Leadership Greater McHenry County launched in 2004. The program fosters and develops community leaders through focused programs that create a leadership resource for the county.
